In 1917, Rose Blumkin immigrated to the United States with very little money but a strong belief in fairness, hard work, and honest pricing. In 1937, she founded Nebraska Furniture Mart in Omaha, Nebraska. Her philosophy was simple but radical for its time: sell quality products at the lowest possible price and treat customers with integrity. That belief became the foundation of a lasting legacy.

As Nebraska Furniture Mart grew into one of the largest home furnishings retailers in the country, mattresses and bedding became a key part of the business. Working directly with customers provided decades of insight into what truly impacts sleep quality. The Blumkin family saw firsthand that many mattress costs came from markups and inefficiencies rather than better materials or performance.

In 1969, members of the Blumkin family founded Future Foam to manufacture foam in-house. This move allowed full control over materials, consistency, and innovation while eliminating reliance on third-party suppliers. Future Foam focused on developing high-quality foam that balanced comfort, support, durability, and value.

Over the following decades, Future Foam expanded across the United States and became a leading foam manufacturer for mattresses, furniture, and specialty applications. Continuous research and development refined foam formulations to improve pressure relief, longevity, and performance. Much of this work happened behind the scenes, supplying materials to major brands while building unmatched expertise in sleep materials.

As the mattress industry evolved and direct-to-consumer models emerged, a clear opportunity became evident.
